SWIM SQUADS

IMPROVERS

TYPICAL AGE : 8-10yrs

HOURS TRAINING PER WEEK : 2 hrs

EQUIPMENT NEEDED : goggles, fins, float, pull buoy, training snorkel

EXPECTATION ON JOINING : ability to swim all four strokes to a reasonable standard

GOALS : develop good technique across all strokes, improve swim fitness, gain experience of galas, progress to Development Squad, have fun

DEVELOPMENT

TYPICAL AGE : 9-11 yrs

HOURS TRAINING PER WEEK : 3hrs

EQUIPMENT NEEDED : goggles, fins, float, pull buoy, training snorkel, hand paddles

EXPECTATION ON JOINING SQUAD : reasonable ability across all four strokes, ability to carry out technique-based drills

GOALS : develop technique, build swim fitness, take part in galas and gain PBs (personal best times), aim for progression to Junior Performance squad, have fun

JUNIOR PERFORMANCE

TYPICAL AGE : 11-13

HOURS TRAINING PER WEEK : 4-6 hrs

EQUIPMENT NEEDED : goggles, fins, float, pull buoy, training snorkel, hand paddles

EXPECTATION ON JOINING SQUAD : good ability across all four strokes, ability to carry-out technique-based drills, keenness to take part in galas, PBs

GOALS : develop technique, build swim fitness, take part in galas, beat PBs, aim for progression to Senior Performance squad, try open water (sea) swimming, have fun

SENIOR PERFORMANCE

TYPICAL AGE : 13 yrs +

HOURS TRAINING PER WEEK : 6-8 hrs

EQUIPMENT NEEDED : goggles, fins, float, pull buoy, training snorkel, hand paddles

EXPECTATION ON JOINING SQUAD : good ability across all four strokes, ability to carry-out technique-based drills, gala experience, PB times

GOALS : develop technique, build swim fitness, take part in galas, beat PBs, aim for county/regional/national qualifying times, try open water (sea) swimming, have fun

MASTERS

TYPICAL AGE : 18-80+ yrs

HOURS TRAINING PER WEEK : 2 x 1 hr pool sessions available

EQUIPMENT NEEDED : goggles + swimming costume (fins, floats, snorkels etc optional)

EXPECTATION ON JOINING SQUAD : swimmers of any ability can swim with the Masters squad

GOALS : improve swimming, develop/maintain swim fitness, take part in Masters galas and open water swim events, have fun
